Arsenal transfer target and Celtic’s centre back Virgil van Dijk has hinted that he will consider a move to Premier League. The player is reportedly not happy with the quality of the football in Scottish League and fears about his development as a player.
The 23-year old have impressed a host of clubs with his ability at Celtic over the last two seasons. The defender joined Celtic from FC Groningen for a reported fee of £2.3million in 2013 and won two Scottish league titles in two years.
He has drawn interest from the likes of Arsenal, Southampton and Tottenham along with few German clubs with Arsenal tipped as his preffered destination.
In a recent interview van Dijk said, “Celtic are a great club with a fantastic stadium and the fans are great, but the competition is not too good. I want to develop. If the opportunity is there, I would definitely consider a transfer.”
Arsenal are in need of centre backs as they have only three first team centre-backs. With the lack of depth in this area, Arsenal could not rotate their centre halves despite their dismal performances at the start of the season.
Arsenal need to make a bid around £10million to lure the defender away from Celtic this summer.
