As per the latest reports from German Bild, Arsenal are interested to sign Augsburg defender Abdul Rahman Baba. The 20-year old has been in sensational form and has been under the radar of some of the European biggest clubs like Real Madrid and Juventus.
The Ghanian international has moved to Augsburg last summer and has been a sensation in Bundesliga as he was able to impress both on attack and defensive fronts.
Baba has made 31 appearences for Augsburg last season and has created more chances than any other defender in the club. The full back also assisted 4 goals last season.
Chelsea are also keen on the defender as Mourinho wants to make him as his first choice full back and release Cesar Azpilicueta to return to right-back which will free up Branislav Ivanovic to play as a centre back.
The Gunners are set to enquire for the 20-year-old left-back after the player’s agent Sascha Empacher travelled to England last week in order to begin talks. However, Augsburg are keen to hold on to the player as he has the potential to be rated as one of the best full backs in the world.
The club chairman Hoffman siad, “We will certainly not sell Baba for €20m. We are a perfectly healthy club, Baba is one of the top talents in the world. Anyone who wants to offer us a number like €20m, they can save the cost of the call.”
Baba has not only impressed in attack but has also won emarkable 91 tackles and 77 headed duels last season which makes him one of the best left backs in Bundesliga at just 20 years.
