Arsenal are trying test Borussia Dortmund’s resolve by launching a £48 million bid for their star Marco Reus according to reports from SportBild. Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is a long term admirer of the 26 year old German supertstar along with his Liverpool counterpart Brendan Rodgers.
Spanish giants Real Madrid were also interested in the popular footballer but Tuttomercatoweb reported that Arsenal were frontrunners to sign him. The agency representing Reus Sport Total stated that they were flattered with interests from European powerhouses but Reus is happy to stay at Borussia Dortmund.
Marco Reus signed a new deal with struggling Borussia Dortmund back in February to stay at the club until 2019. But reports suggest that the French boss of arsenal is going to launch a bid for the superstar.
The Gunners have been pretty quiet in the transfer market so far with Petr Cech Wenger’s only significant new addition this summer but that could be about to change over the next few weeks if rumours are to be believed.
The Daily Star are citing a report that originates from SportBild which claims that Arsenal are targetting a move for Marco Reus and are ready to break their transfer record to take the German international to the Emirates.
The newspaper suggests that Liverpool have also been showing a keen interest in Reus this summer but Arsenal are supposedly willing to test Borussia Dortmund’s resolve with a £48m offer – which would easily eclipse the £42.5m they paid for Mesut Ozil two years ago.
Borussia did not have an impressive last season finishing seventh in the Bundesliga. Reus was absent for the major part of the season due to his successive injuries and the team suffered from his absence. Reus only appeared 20 times last season for Dortmund in Bundesliga and scored 7 goals providing 5 assists.
