The Gunners’ race for the Nigerian midfielder Samuel Chukwueze is on again as DailyStar reports that Arsene’s side have agreed on fees and the deal is almost done. Arsenal are linked with the 16-year-old, along with his Nigeria Under-17 team-mate Kelechi Nwakali, from the start of the season.

Nwakali has confirmed last month that he had already signed a five-year-long contract to make the move to the Emirates Stadium and join the Gunners from the next season.

But unfortunately, the deal for Chukwueze had been on its way to collapse because of a dispute between Arsenal and the Diamond Academy over the transfer fee of the 16-year-old.

Diamond Academy wanted some percentage of the transfer money paid up as soon as the youngster leaves for the Emirates but on the other hands Arsenal had other ideas, they wanted to wait until the youngster turns 18.

In January, it was reported that Arsenal were about to pay a transfer fee of £3m for both Chukwueze and Nwakali. Both of the youngsters were a part of the Nigeria International side and played a key part which won them the last summer’s Under-17 World Cup. A huge number of clubs like Red Bull Salzburg and a number of Bundesliga clubs are also into the race to sign Chukwueze but the player is adamant on signing for Arsenal and moving to the Emirates as soon as possible.

However, All Nigeria Soccer states a source claiming a deal between the two parties should now be done.

“There was a little bit of hitch, at the end of the day it was resolved if and only if Diamond Academy agree,” they said.

“Arsenal want to pay Chukwueze’s transfer fee when he is 18, Diamond felt it was too far for them. But they should agree.”
