It may have been almost 2 months since the time Arsenal got the better of Chelsea in Community Shield tie, however, keeping Arsene Wenger’s dismal record against Jose Mourinho in mind the community shield victory must be used as a platform by the Gunners to build on.
The two managers have seen their ups and downs in recent past and with Chelsea struggling in the league so far this season, it may be the best time for Arsenal to get a result from Stamford Bridge. Chelsea’s near perfect home record was breached by Crystal Palace and considering Arsenal play with speed as well, alarm bells must be ringing loud in Chelsea defense.
One crucial factor Arsenal needs to keep in mind is not to outsmart Chelsea and Jose Mourinho, since the Blues will be waiting like an injured animal cornered and waiting to attack. Arsenal will indeed like to play the possession game and allow Mourinho’s men space to work with.
Both managers need to sort out their best teams going into the game with Mourinho unsure of his defense while Wenger is yet to learn who is his best striker? Theo Walcott or Olivier Giroud. This will also be the first time Petr Cech will travel to Stamford Bridge since his summer exit and having him in his corner, Wenger can almost be sure of a positive display as Cech will be eager to show Mourinho whom he allowed to leave this summer.
