Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has signed a contract extension with the Gunners that will keep him as manager of teh club till 2017. The former French Professor was at the centre of long term speculations regarding his future at the club but now that the 64 year old has penned a new deal with the Emirates outfit, it perhpas would be great news dfor the Arsenal fans.

 

The Gunners had earlier ended their barren drought of 8 years without silverware by winning the FA Cup after beating Hull City by 3-2 at Wembley two weeks ago. Arsenal were in complete control of the Premier League title but the London club saw their bid for the title fall off after two disastrous months which meant they would gaain have to be contended with a fourth placed finish. The Frenchman now will guide the club in his 19th season in charge and will look to bid for a serious Premier League title challenge next season.

Speaking after the club confirmed the news, Wenger said: “I want to stay and to continue to develop the team and the club. We are entering a very exciting period. We have a strong squad, financial stability and huge support around the world. We are all determined to bring more success to this club.

“The club has always shown faith in me and I’m very grateful for that. We have gone through fantastic periods and also periods where we have had to stick together. Every time when that togetherness was tested I got the right response. I think I have shown some loyalty as well towards this club and hopefully we can make some more history. I am sure we can.

“We are entering a very exciting period. We have a strong squad, financial stability and huge support around the world. We are all determined to bring more success to this club.”

Club chairman Sir Chips Keswick praised the news with Wenger staying on as manager.

I have no doubt we have an exciting future ahead of us with him leading the team.”
