English champions Chelsea have been given a chance to sign Atletico’s Arda Turan from which if agreed will see the end of Chelsea’s aim of signing Antoine Griezmann from the Madrid based side.
Arda Turan, has made it clear that it is time to the Madrid based clue and has two firm bids for his services already submitted to the club as champions for 3 countries are possible destinations with Barcelona, Paris Saint-Germain and Chelsea having shown interest in him.
Arda Turan has a £29m buy-out clause in his current contract although it need not be met completely as English champions maybe offering former Atletico Madrid star Filipe Luís as part of a deal after signing him from Atletico for 16m just last season.
Turan was signed for £8.5m from Galatasaray 4 seasons ago and has made 178 appearances and scored 22 goals for Diego Simeone’s side which won the La Liga, Copa del Rey, the Europa League and runners-up of the 2014 Champions League. The player’s agent said that the player’s departure is almost certain just a week ago.
“A lot of things about his transfer are being published but not everything they say is true,” he told NTVSpor. “We want to clarify that at this time there is a lot of pressure about this situation but we don’t want to make a formal statement about his destination before he signs. That being said, in the next four days Arda will decide which team he’ll play for next season.”
The Agent also said that Madrid have already, though not willingly, accepted the player’s decision to leave. “Our decision really surprised Atlético Madrid,” he said. “They don’t want Arda to leave and were persistent but in the end, they respected and accepted our decision. But of course, nothing is completely done until he signs. However, we made sure the message was clear that we wanted to leave Atlético.”
The Madrid based club may try to sign up Dnipro’s Yevhen Konoplyanka as replacement for the Arda Turan if he leaves and also will almost guarantee that they keep hold of Antonio Greizmann at the Club.
24-yr old Greizmann is also an option Chelsea are looking at given the good relations they have with Atletico Madrid and the superiors running the club at top level.
