Barclays Premier League: Top 5 transfers in 2015/16 season

The Premier League spent record amounts of money at the start of this season with a number of top class players making the move to England to play in what is regarded as one of the most competitive leagues in Europe. Though not every player has proven himself, some of them have looked like they belong here and have had a great time so far this season.

Here are the Top 5 transfers from this summer:

Dimitri Payet (West Ham United):

French International midfielder Dimitri Payet was a sought out man in Europe but London franchise West Ham took a quick step and signed him for £10.7m from Marseille. Since then, he has turned out to be the most effective summer transfer this season as his exploits with the team have taken them to the 6th place, just a few points away from a top 4 spot. He has been in sensational form this season and has given his team plenty of confidence for the rest of the season.

Kevin de Bruyne (Manchester City):

From all the money spent by Manchester City before the start of the season, the most expensive buy, Belgium national Kevin de Bruyne has been a revelation in the Premier League this season. He took no time to settle into the English way of the game and looked at home right from his first game where he marked his debut with a goal. He has picked up an injury of late but is still one of the best players statically in the Premier League this season.

Roberto Firmino (Liverpool):

After a slow start, ex-Hoffenheim attacker Roberto Firmino has hit the ground running after the turn of the year under the new manager at Liverpool. Firmino did not get to prove himself under the previous coach Brendan Rodgers but since he has been given a false-9 role by Jurgen Klopp he has blossomed and now has been involved in more goals than any other player in the Premier League this year. He will have to continue this form if he is to justify the £29m price tag that Liverpool paid for him.

N’Golo Kante (Leicester City):

One of the most under-rated players in the Premier League this season, French national N’Golo Kante has been extraordinary in the mid-field for the table toppers Leicester City in this exciting campaign of the Premier League. He made a £5.6m move from Caen in the summer and has since played an important role in the Foxes race to the title this season. His energy and work ethics combined with his technical ability make him a very good player and at 24 years of age will only get better as he gets more game time.

Anthony Martial (Manchester United):

Manchester United were one of the busiest clubs in the Premier League in the summer. They bought in 7 players before the start of the season but the pick of the lot has been French national Anthony Martial. The 20-year old has been the most impressive player in the final third for the club and has scored goals even as his teammates have struggled to find the net. He came with a hefty £36m price tag from AS Monaco but has already shown his potential to become one of the best in the business.
