Reports suggest that Bayern Munich enter the race to sign Dortmund’s star Ilkay Gundogan as they are ready to offer Mario Gotze in a shocking swap deal which might end up as the deal of the season if the transfer happens.
Ilkay Gundogan is set to leave Dortmund this summer as the club last week announced that the player will not sign a contract extension. The 24-year old is under the radar of Manchester United and Arsenal in the last few weeks.
With the player available for cut-price deal this summer, clubs have shown interest to get his services for a cheaper cost. If Bayern Munich offers Mario Gotze in the swap deal then Dortmund might favour their arch rivals as it could help both the clubs positively.
Bayern are in need of world-class central midfielders as their players Schweinsteiger and Xabi Alonso are in their 30s and soon will be seen declining. The 24-year old adds a lot of quality to Bayern’s midfield and provides a long term solution to one of the central midfield spots in the starting line up.
Dortmund are looking to cash in on the mid-fielder as they don’t want to end up similar to Lewandowski’s transfer where the star striker signed for Bayern as a free agent.
Dortmund also has a history of signing their former players as we saw the likes of Shinji Kagawa returned to the Signal Iduna Park last summer.
