One of the biggest transfer stores in the summer is set to revolve around World Cup winning star Mario Gotze who is currently unsettled in the Bundesliga.
Gotze, who announced himself at Borussia Dortmund under the current Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp made a controversial switch to the Allianz Arena €37m deal back in 2013.
However, he has not been able to establish himself as a regular started for the club and has seen his opportunities limited to just 10 league appearances this season.
Though he has been hit by injuries throughout the season, it is understood that the 23-year old wants to move out of the club at the end of the season.
It comes as no surprise that his former boss Jurgen Klopp wants him to move to Anfield this summer.
It has already been reported that Klopp has persuaded the forward for a potential move, but a recent report from Squawka has revealed that the player has not yet spoken to the Bayern hierarchy about his place in the squad.
Gotze, who moved to Bayern in 2013, will see his contract expire in 2017 at which time he will be a free agent.
So if the 23-year old does not extend his contract before the end of this season, Bayern will have to sell him in the summer or risk losing him on a free transfer after the end of the next season.
However, the news outlet revealed that the player and the club officials have put talks about his future on hold until the end of the season.
Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, the chairman of the Bundesliga outfit has revealed that the club and the player are concentrated on what is to unfold from now to the end of the season and the 23-year old is open to talk about his future only after the end of the season.
Schwabische Zeitung, an important member of the Bayern franchise also revealed that the player is not thinking about his future at the moment.
Talking to the German media, Zeitung said, “We are in the important weeks of the season, so we concentrate on the here and now.
“This is all that counts. When all the games are done, Mario is invited to come to my office and speak with Bayern on his future.”
However, even with Guardiola set to leave the club at the end of the season, Gotze can hardly be given any promises about his future at Bayern and a re-union with former boss Jurgen Klopp seems an enticing option for both parties.
It remains to be seen if Liverpool do push for the transfer as quickly as possible come the end of this season.
Do you think Gotze will fit into Liverpool next season?
