According Goal’s report, Premier League giants Liverpool FC have apparently reached an agreement with Aston Villa over Christian Benteke’s transfer deal. A week back it was reported that the Reds are eyeing the Belgaian striker. Fresh reports suggest that the club has agreed to pay Benteke’s release clause of £32.5 million and the striker will have his medical on Monday or Tuesday at London.

Liverpool had sold their star midfielder Raheem Sterling last week to city for a hefty amount of £49m. It is believed that they would push the deal for Benteke with the money they got from Sterling’s deal.

Christian Benteke will be the 7th major signing for the Merseyside giants this summer. The striker will be joining the likes of James Milner, Adam Bogdan, Joe Gomez, Roberto Firmino, Nathaniel Clyne and Danny Ings.

Brendan Rodgers’ team suffered a lot due to lack of quality strikers last season. After Luis Suarez left last summer, the Reds lacked a talisman upfront. Benteke’s inclusion will take the number of strikers count to 7 for Liverpool.

Liverpool FC reporter for the Liverpool Echo James Pearce tweeted to confirm the news:
