Former Arsenal player and club legend Thierry Henry feels that Real Madrid’s star striker Karim Benzema will help Arsenal bring home the Premier League title.

The Gunners are linked with Benzema since a long time now and several media houses have reported about a possible move of the French striker to Emirates Stadium this season.

TalkSport had asked Thierry Henry about Arsenal’s team this season to which the legendary forward replied: “I always say it’s their year but there is a genuine buzz around the place right now,” the former Gunners captain told Drivetime.

“I think they can challenge this year for real if they stay injury-free.

“Giroud alone as a striker there – you can’t win the league, you need another type of striker. I think Giroud is doing really well – he went on to score 14 goals in 18 games, that’s amazing.

“But sometimes you need a different type of striker and I think that if they can get Benzema, suddenly they are a real title contender and also in the Champions League.”

In April, Thierry Henry had shared some rude comments about Arsenal’s star striker Olivier Giroud, to which the player had responded negatively.

Henry had mentioned that Giroud could never help Arsenal in winning big trophies. Henry stuck to his point and emphasised on the point that irrespective of having a world class squad at his disposal, Wenger would never win the title unles a better striker is bought.

Henry stated that even though Giroud is a great goal getter, the Frenchman would not be a permanent solution for the Gunners.

The France legend specifically stressed on the fact that Benzema’s inclusion into the Arsenal squad might prove to be a great boon for the team.
