The Red Devils are said to be lining up to sign the French striker from Madrid in a swap deal involving the Los Blacos’s long time target David de Gea.
In the past few weeks there has been immense upheaval in the media regarding the sex tape scandal involving Mathieu Valbuena and Karim Benzema. And into the foray Real Madrid’s name has been dragged on account of Benzema’s association with the Spanish giants which ofcourse has not gone down well with the club. A tarnished reputation is surely no on Madrid’s to do list this season and they seem to want to do away with the Frenchman to save themselves further embarrassment. A break in BBC can turn out to be Manchester United’s gain.
With a shortage of imposing talent upfront, the Red Devils might make a move for the Madrid man and throw in De Gea to make the deal a bit meatier for Real Madrid. Florentino Perez was very keen on signing the Spanish goalkeeper in the summer but United convinced De Gea to stay a bit longer and now they are willing to use him as a candy to lure the Los Blancos. Even though Keylor Navas has been terrific for Madrid, a chance to scoop up David de Gea will not be overlooked by the club.
Though the deal cannot come through in January and will only happen next summer (if it does!), it might be a win-win situation for Manchester United as Real Madrid would be willingly to let go of the striker for a price below his base price of 43 million pounds. Benzema can be an instrumental addition for the Red Devils given his exploits at Santiago Bernebau. Benzema has scored a total of 133 goals in his time at Real Madrid till now with netting 8 times in the 9 games he played this season
