Manchester United and their problems in front of goal have been well documented in the recent past. With the transfer window open, it is no surprise that the club is linked to a host of European stars.

Lazio star Felipe Anderson was rumored to be close to agreeing a deal with the English franchise but it is now understood that they might miss out on their target after German giants Bayern Munich are understood to be monitoring the player.

Anderson had a stellar season last time around with Lazio and has been superb so far this season. He is valued at £35 million and is a hot property in the Europe.

Manchester United were rejected in their bid for the player last summer but that has not let Louis van Gaal down who is now once again keen on brining the Lazio forward to Old Trafford.

The Dutchman is desperate to add to his firepower that is mis-firing far too frequently for the clubs liking. But it is now understood that Pep Guardiola’s Bayern Munich have also joined the race for the player.

Bayern Munich with their present status in Europe obviously provide a more attractive option for Anderson while national team mates Douglas Costa and Rafinha are also first team players at the club who might help Bayern sign Anderson this January.

If the deal falls through, it will be another blow for Louis van Gaal and his team who will be in desperate need for some reinforcements  going into the business end of a thrilling Premier League season.
