Big Update: Bayern Munich Star To Miss Both UCL Clashes Against Arsenal

According to the German media, Arsenal have handed a massive boost as Bayern Munich centre-back Jerome Boateng is set to miss both Champions League games against the Gunners due to a right tendon injury.

The 28-year-old powerful defender picked up the problem at the end of 2016 and has had an operation to try and solve the problem.

The Bundesliga champions have revealed that Boateng would only miss six weeks of action at the end of December, which would have seen the Germany international recover for the first Champions League clash against Arsenal on February 15.

However, the reports from German publication Kicker suggest that Boateng will, in fact, be out until the beginning of March.

That would rule the defender out of the first leg at the Allianz Arena and it’s likely he would not be ready for the second leg at the Emirates Stadium on March 7. Should it be the case, the absence of Jerome Boateng would be a major boost for Arsene Wenger’s side.

Meanwhile, Arsenal have to face tough competition from Champions League holders Real Madrid in their pursuit for FC Porto’s attacking sensation Andre Silva, who has been closely monitored by Arsene Wenger since the last season.

The Portuguese giants have consistently shown they are willing to sell their 21-year-old highly-regarded youngster if the players’ valuations are met.

However, the reports from Daily Star claim that Porto are willing to retain the services of the gifted striker this month, which could make the deal trickier for the Gunners because it will allow Real Madrid to enter the fray.
