According to French media, Paris Saint-Germain striker Edinson Cavani’s agent Walter Guglielmone has claimed that his client will not consider any offers from other clubs in this transfer window. Several top European clubs including Premier League giants Manchester United were keen on signing the forward. But now it seems that the player wishes to stay at the club beyond this season.

The Uruguayan, 28, arrived at the club in 2013 from Napoli. Initially he had some problems in the club and struggled to adjust in a wider role. Due to the towering presence of Zlatan Ibrahimovic in the side, Cavani initially had a wider role to play in the 4-3-3 formation.

Guglielmone claimed that he had words with the club officials and they have ensured that the Uruguayan will have a striker’s role this season with Ibrahimovic tracking down.

Walter Guglielmone was quoted:This summer Edi has received interest from top clubs who are chasing a centre forward.

He is ignoring them though because he was given guarantees about his position at the end of last season.

We have been led to believe that Ibrahimovic will play further and further away from the box in order to touch the ball more, leaving the striker position for Edi to fill, which was the case several times at the end of 2014-15.

In such conditions, Edi will be happy at PSG.

Manchester United were closely linked with Edinson Cavani as the Premier League side were looking forward to signing a second striker. Robin van Persie left the side this time and Javier Hernandez is out with a collar bone injury. It was even reported that the club may sell Angel Di Maria and in exchange might get Cavani.

But now that the agent has himself claimed that the player will ‘ignore’offers, Manchester United’s chances of acquiring his services looks bleak.
