A huge champions league boost for Arsenal as Bayern’s German attacking midfielder Mario Gotze ruled out for up to 12 weeks due to a growing injury.
After coming off during the first half of Euro 2016 Qualifier in Dublin, there was a bit anxiety in Germany and Bayern Munich dressing room.
Later Bayern in their official press release confirmed that Gotze will be sidelined for 10-12 weeks due to his injury. That means the German international will miss the home and away fixture of the champions league group stage encounter against Arsenal, who are currently eager to bounce back from two of their opening defeats.
Bayern in their official statement said that, “the 23-year-old was diagnosed on Friday with a ruptured muscle tendon in the groin.” He is now under observation of the national side’s medical team in Leipzig, where Germany will be playing their last group game against Georgia on Sunday.
There is also a growing concern that Gotze who has scored 4 goals for Bayern this season, could be sidelined for the remainder of first half of the season. Bayern’s last game before the winter breaks in on 19 December against Hannover, which is 10 weeks away. The Bavarians will then resume their campaign on 23 January against Hamburg.
Germany coach said, “It’s annoying for us and a real shame for him.”
“We wish him a good and speedy recovery. I am sure that he will be able to pick up his form again once he returns. ”
On the other hand, Manchester United midfielder Schewinsteiger is also unavailable for the Georgia game due to his thigh injury.
