Spanish full-back Nacho Monreal has once again reiterated his loyalty to Arsenal as he agreed to sign a new three-year deal to give a huge boost to Arsene Wenger amid rumours of a potential transfer to La Liga side Athletic Bilbao, as per the reports of the Metro.
The Spain international was earlier in the summer transfer window heavily linked with a possible move to Bilbao, but Arsene Wenger convinced him that his future is perfectly suited at The Emirates indeed.
The 29-year-old Spaniard remains Wenger’s first choice left-back ahead of Kieran Gibbs and till now has been one of the Gunner’s top performers as Arsene Wenger is desperate to end the major trophy drought. Since his arrival at arsenal from Malaga in 2013, Monreal has been a revelation for the Gunners.
Initially, he struggled for the first-team place with Kieran Gibbs was then the preferred choice but has gradually proved himself at the Emirates and till now in this season hasn’t missed a minute in the league.
Gibbs not in his top form, Mikel Arteta’s future still not decided as his contract expires at the end of the season; Wenger surely don’t want to lose Monreal.
According to the Daily Mail, the defender recently agreed on fresh terms for a new lucrative three-year contract with the FA Cup holders which will keep him at the club till 2018.
