With a 2-1 victory over Middlesbrough at the weekend, Tottenham Hotspur managed to win their third consecutive league game and have climbed to the second place in the points table.
They are yet to be beaten in the Premier League this season and are looking to mount yet another title challenge this year. However, they were dealt a huge blow recently when star striker Harry Kane picked up an serious injury.
The England international was stretchered off in the second half at Sunderland and was reportedly out for up 8 weeks, after picking up a grade-2 ligament damage.
The 23-year did not start the season with a bang but showed signs of some form in the last few games. He was influential in the victory over Sunderland before picking up the injury and was not available for the game against Middlesbrough at the weekend.
The 8-week absence of the star player could have hurt the club in more ways than one, but Mauricio Pochettino gave some good news to the fans of the club earlier today.
Speaking to the media ahead of the game against CSKA Moscow in the group stage of the Champions League, Pochettino revealed that the initial scans were favorable.
A grade-2 ligament damage could have kept the striker until the festive time in December and he would have found it hard to cope with the fixture schedule. However, the manager revealed that the injury is not as bad as it seemed initially and said that he will be fit enough to face their north-London rivals Arsenal in November.
The Spurs boss said: “It’s much, much better than we expected. We are happy. The scan was very positive so we’re very, very happy about this news.”
He added: “We still cannot give a time of how long it will take for him to recover. But be sure we’re happy because the scan was better than we expect.
“I am not a doctor. It’s hard to say one, two, three weeks but it’s much, much, much better than we expected.”
It will come as great news for the Spurs fans who may have found a star in Heung-Min Son who picked up a brace at the Riverside.
However, they will need most of their players to be in top gear and take their chances as they will surely miss a genuine goal scoring threat for the side.
It will be interesting to see if Kane can start the Arsenal game, but if he does, it will not be a long month for the White Hart Lane outfit without their superstar.
