Boost for Liverpool as star midfielder set to return for the match against Chelsea

Liverpool have now picked up 7 points from games against the top three placed teams from the previous season after their victories over Leicester City and Arsenal with a draw at the White Hart Lane.

Apart from the blip a the Turf Moor, Liverpool have looked a strong team with loads of goals in them and are ready to give the likes of Chelsea, Manchester City, and Manchester United a run for their money in the race to the Premier League title.

The win against Leicester City will give the manager loads of confidence as he missed many of his key players in Emre Can, Phillipe Coutinho, and Loris Karius, all of whom are first team players this season.

While Coutinho and Karius are back in full training Liverpool fans were given some exciting news earlier today.

According to reports, German midfielder Emre Can is back in full training and will travel with the squad to the Stamford Bridge for the Friday night kick-off against Chelsea.

The 22-year old midfielder is the first choice personnel for Klopp in the defensive midfield area, a position that was exploited by teams in the 4 games this season.

The likes of Jordan Henderson were deputized in that position but it is now understood that Can may take his place in the game against the Blues.

The midfielder returned to training with the Liverpool squad late in pre-season after an extended holiday post EURO16, where he went to the semi-final with the national team.

He was deemed match fit for the League Cup game against Burton Albion where he started brightly only to limp away in the second half after picking up an ankle injury.

He missed the game against Tottenham Hotspur and also played no part in Germany’s World Cup qualifying campaign nursing his injury.

He was back with the squad but was not considered for the Anfield game against the Foxes but has now returned to full training and will be hoping to get some game time under his belt in games to come.

The 22-year old has been a great influence on the squad even in the previous season. He was the scorer of the first goal of the Klopp era at Anfield and will be an important part of the plans for the manager this season.

Liverpool have looked a bit fragile at the back but have managed to outscore two of the 4 opponents they have faced so far this season.

And with Emre Can in, they will only become stronger and will pose a greater challenge to teams around the top half of the table.

It is understood that Can will be closely monitored by a medical staff who will decide if he is fit for Friday after a couple of training sessions but if he makes a comeback, it might see Georginio Wijnaldum, who made a decent start to his Liverpool career, sit out for the game against Chelsea.

Do you think Can should start for Liverpool if fit for the Chelsea game?
