Xhaka to Arsenal

The transfer window is nearing and rumors are taking the excitement to a whole new level. With Arsene Wenger in search of a defensive midfielder for the past two seasons, there have been at least fifty players who have been rumored to be linked with the London club, Monchengladbach starlet Granit Xhaka is also one of them. But 90min.com confirms Monchengladbach authorities’ denial on the Xhaka-Arsenal link, as they report that there were no official offers from any big clubs recently for the midfielder.

Arsenal were reported to have made an offer of around £24m for the 23-year-old midfielder, but the club was reported to be asking for a sum around £32m. With Liverpool also interested in Xhaka as Jurgen Klopp wants to rebuild his squad over this summer, the competition is tough and money will surely decide the winner, but the question is – How much does the German worth?

Andre Schubert, the head coach told the media this week that arsenal will have to pay well enough to take the 23-year-old away from Monchengladbach to the Emirates, he added: “They need not even send the fax with a 30 million euro offer for Granit Xhaka.”

Sporting director of Borussia Monchengladbach, Max Eberl expressed his view on the transfer link, by saying: “I fear it could get very tumultuous regarding rumours in summer. There is currently no offer from England. I’ll keep you up to date when the first faxes roll in.”

With hopes that Monchengladbach will grow strong as a force in German football league, Eberl said: “Our club has become sexy. We’ve undergone a fantastic development. It’s obviously our dream to play in the Champions League again, but dreams are hard to achieve.”

It has been a childhood dream of Xhaka to play in England, says the 23-year-old: “Everybody has a childhood dream, and for me it is England. That doesn’t mean that I have to or would like to go there – I’m extremely happy here and everything suits me down to the ground – but you do have to take a look around and talk with the club.”
