Biswajit Bhattacharya and Sanjoy Sen, both the experienced coaches in Kolkata football who has been looking after the country’s two biggest football teams, East Bengal and Mohun Bagan currently, seem to be impressed by Spanish coach of Atletico De Kolkata, Antonio Habas.

Bhattacharya, commenting on the intelligent coaching implied by Habas in Sunday’s match at the Salt Lake Stadium where ATK drubbed FC Goa 2-0 said, “Habas has a few important qualities. First of all, he can make intelligent substitutions in spite of the fact that he does not have top quality footballers in the reserve. Secondly, He seems to be neutral as he is continuously playing Indian custodian Amrinder Singh in spite of having another Spanish goalkeeper in his squad. And his third important quality I have observed so far is that Habas always can make his defensive organization very composed so that the oppositions are finding tough to crack.”

Mohun Bagan coach Sanjoy Sen also had a similar opinion when he said, “I am fully agreed with Biswajit Bhattacharya on this issue. Rather I want to add his two more qualities. One is that Habas does not get pressurized by big names in the team. He only chooses those footballers for his final squad who are fit and effective.

“Another thing I must mention that, following everyday training Habas has been able to imply one important thought that his footballers can change the strategy during the match whenever they are facing opposition’s defensive organization difficult.”
