Arsenal defender Gabriel Paulista has been handed a one match ban for his actions against Chelsea which saw the Brazilian get a red card. Initially, Gabriel was to serve a 3-match ban but following a hearing by The FA, his ban was revoked, however, he was warned that he will face charge for showing improper conduct.
Arsenal and the player had accepted the charge and requested a personal hearing, which The FA agreed upon. After an independent hearing, the verdict was given for the defender to serve a one-match which will be in effect tomorrow against Leicester.
The FA released an official statement of their verdict which read: “Following an Independent Regulatory Commission hearing, Arsenal defender Gabriel will serve a one-match suspension with immediate effect after he admitted an FA charge of improper conduct.
The charge relates to Gabriel’s behaviour following his dismissal in or around the 45th minute of the game against Chelsea on Saturday [19 September 2015].
The player, who requested a personal hearing, was also fined £10,000 and warned as to his future conduct.”
The other offender from the incident, Diego Costa was handed a 3-match ban which has not gone well with Jose Mourinho and Chelsea who said that only Arsene Wenger can get away by saying anything about the red and there are others who cannot say anything.
