It all seems to be going wrong in the transfer market for Arsenal.

Now, it looks that they will have to end their pursuit of Alexandre Lacazette after the 25-year-old appeared to have sustained a hip injury during their 4-1 defeat to PSG last night in the Trophee des Champions.

Speaking about the injury after the game, Lyon manager Bruno Genesio said: “It’s worrying. It’s a big downside of the evening in addition to the defeat.

“This is our attack leader, he is needed. It’s too early to tell about the injury. There will be examinations early this week.”

This leaves Arsene Wenger with no other choice but to go all out for his next priority target Riyad Mahrez but to land the Leicester City star would be very difficult for Arsenal now as the Foxes’ owner has insisted he is not for sale.

Inter captain Mauro Icardi still remains a potential option. Even his wife, who also works as his agent, was reportedly in London to discuss a move to Arsenal. The 23-year-old has been linked with a move away from the San Siro this summer with his future uncertain.

He could also consider former United star Chicharito as the Mexican recently hinted that he wants to leave his current club Bayer Leverkusen.

Wenger is facing the possibility of having only one fit striker, Chuba Akpom, for his side’s opening fixture in the Premier League against Liverpool.

Supporters are crying out for the Frenchman to bring in support for Olivier Giroud – it remains to be seen if he gets any attacking deals over the line before the summer transfer window closes on August 31.
