As per the reports from The Sun, Southampton have emerged as the front runners to sign Chelsea stopper Petr Cech for rest of the season as the back up to their injured goalkeeper Frasor Forster.
Southampton are planning to bring Petr Cech for the remaining 7 games of the season as Forster has been ruled out for over a year after breaking his kneecap.
Petr Cech has already made his desires clear about leaving Stamford Bridge next season but his Chelsea farewell could have come earlier than everyone was expecting as the experience goalkeeper is planning his exit this season itself.
Frasor Forster suffered the unlucky injury in the Southampton’s win over Burnley when Forster fell awkwardly after Sam Vokes tried to close him down. Forster had been in fine form this season keeping 11 clean sheet and the day he got injured, he still had his clean sheet intact.
Southampton manager Ronald Koeman only has the reserve goal keeper Kelvin Harris as his other goalkeeping option, which is troubling him as he has 7 key games remaining from now and till the end of this season and if Southampton are to challenge for even the Europa league spot, they need a solid Goal Keeper in their ranks.
Chelsea’s Petr Cech is the ideal option for Koeman as Cech is just sitting on the bench and hoping for the season to end quickly so that he could make his move. With this unexpected playing time coming his way, Cech can play for his next move as he would look to impress his suitors and give them an extra reason to sign one of the best goalkeepers in the world.
