Former Blackburn defender Gaël Givet has recently unfolded a ugly truth about Ligue 1 club Evian.
The former Blackburn Rovers defender left the club in September 2014 and signed for Evian. The player claims that Evian asked him to get rid of his ‘jihadist beard’.
According to Gaël Givet,he had to leave the club soon,because of his beard. Gael Givet was quoted saying: “three days prior to my first game,I was called in the president’s office for something that was lunatic and completely irrelevant to football. I was completely disgusted. The problem was my beard. They wanted to force me to shave because it was too long. At 33, you cannot treat me this way. They took me for a jihadist, while I haven’t even converted to Islam.”
Gael Givet has given this interview to Le Parisien,where he says that his spell at Evian failed because they took him for jihadist. The French footballer who currently plays for Arles-Avignon in Ligue 2. He is a left-footed centre back who can also play left-back. Givet was a Champions League runner-up with AS Monaco in 2004 and was part of the French team which reached the 2006 FIFA World Cup.
