Manchester United have been handed a massive boost ahead of the all-important Manchester Derby after it was revelaed by Manuel Pellegrini earlier today that Man City captain Vincent Kompany is a major injury doubt ahead of the game. The way Pellegrini broke the news, it almost seemed like Kompany is certain to miss the game.
Pellegrini was addressing the media ahead of the game when he sid: “We will assess Kompany tomorrow [Saturday],”
“He could finish the last game but he didn’t work this week in a normal way.
“We will see tomorrow if he can play or not. It is always better to play with Kompany but if not we have a squad.”
The news will give United fans further hopes of a win as United have not been able to beat Man City since 2011 with Kompany on the pitch. Kompany has always troubled United strikers as the red devils have faile to score a single goal against City in their last 2 meetings.
Kompany was the man who scored the all-important goal in 2011-12 season which ultimately resulted in City winning the Premier League title. Manchester United have been further boosted with the news of Robin Van Persie returning to full training just in time to make the squad for the City clahs this Sunday.
Man City and Vincent Kompany face a late fitness test to know whether the City captain would play any part against Manchester United.
