Breaking: Mario Gotze Diagnosed With Rare Disorder That Could Potentially Be Career-Ending

In what will come as a sad news for football fans, German international Mario Gotze could never play football again, after being diagnosed with a rare ‘metabolic disorder.

The 24-year old wrote his name in history a couple of years ago when he helped Germany to the World Cup against a gritty Argentina side, as hi popped up with a late, late goal to break Argentine hearts.

He rose into the star he is now under current Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp during his time at Borussia Dortmund and his performances as the Signal Iduna Park at this time is what got him into the national team.

He also earned himself a call from the biggest football outlet in the country in Bayern Munich but he failed to have any kind of an impact at the Allianz Arena and only ended up moving back to Dortmund a couple of years later this summer.

He was expected to play a decent role under Thomas Tuchel at the Iduna Park but constant muscle injuries have made sure that he could not get a consistent run of games in the squad.

And he was today withdrawn from training and will be on the sidelines indefinitely according to a statement from the German club.

‘Borussia Dortmund will have to do without their midfielder Mario Gotze. The world champion has been struggling with muscular problems in recent months, leading to a thorough internal search for possible causes.

‘Investigations have now revealed metabolic disorders, which make it absolutely necessary to take Gotze out of training.’ read the club’s statement.

The statement was not clear about his injury or the extent of his absence but it is rumoured that he might not be able to get back to the game anytime soon.

Speaking about this latest setback, the 24-year old revealed that he will do all he can to get back to the game as quickly as possible to help the yellow brigade in Germany.

Gotze added: ‘I am getting treatment and will do everything to get back into training again to help our team reach our goals.’

Club’s sporting director Michael Zorc also spoke about Gotze’s condition and expressed his relief on being able to track what exactly was wrong with him.

He said, ‘We are glad, that we now know the reasons for Mario’s problems and we are convinced that he will give us an extra quality with his extraordinary skills once he has completely recovered,’ said Zorc.

‘Everybody at the BVB will give him full support,’ he added.

The German has started just 9 games this season for Dortmund and his season is all but over. Let’s hope that he is back to action quickly and that this will not be a career-ending setback for the 24-year old.
