Manchester United have been linked with a shock move for Real Madrid’s defender Sergio Ramos. In the recent turn of events, it appears that Real Madrid have quoted £46.5million as the asking fee for the defender.
Real Madrid have been surprised and angered by Ramos’ recent behavior and his stubbornness in getting an improved contract at the club. Bernabeu club have refused to surrender to his demands and now are willing to let the defender leave this summer.
Ramos has become increasingly frustrated at the club having gone yet another season trophy-less. Add to that Carlo Ancelooti’s exit has upset the World Cup and Champions League winning defender, who is now desperate to leave this summer.
Independent and AS understand that Ramos will most likely join Manchester United if he leaves Real Madrid. The key to all of that could be David De Gea, who is destined for a move to Real Madrid.
According to Marca, Real Madrid were willing to start De Gea’s bidding at £13million which was nothing but laughable. Manchester United have made a firm stance on when to allow De Gea leave the club. However, that stance could be softened if Sergio Ramos becomes a part of that deal.
Manchester United have been in the market for an experienced defender with Nicolas Otameni and Mats Hummels leading the target list. All of that would come to standstill if Sergio Ramos becomes available at any fee mentioned by the club.
Will Ramos join Manchester United?
If Sergio Ramos leaves Real Madrid I can see his next destination to be Manchester United with De Gea involved in the negotiations. However, it’s a very big IF we are talking about.
At the end of the day, it could be a trick to get an improved contract with Real Madrid.
