Arsenal attacking midfielder Kelechi Nwakali has joined Dutch second division club Maastricht on loan.
The 18-year-old joined the Gunners earlier this month from Nigerian side Diamond Football Academy.
In the announcement, it was confirmed Nwakali would be joining the club’s academy but the intention was to send him out on loan to gain experience.
He had been linked with a move to Norwegian side Viking FK. But Maastricht have now announced Nwakali will spend the season with them.
“It is obvious to him that he played and was awarded the Golden Ball a key role for his country at the World Championships U17, Chile, captain last year. Jupiler League we know the Golden Bull.
“That’s what he is now on have to focus. At MVV Maastricht will have to show Kelechi what he does and why he is included in the training at Arsenal.”
