As per Guardian, Manchester United have put Karim Benzema on top of their transfer list for the summer. Real Madrid striker, who scored 22 goals this season has been identified as the ideal man to end the goal drought at Old Trafford.

Manchester United are expected to be in close contact with Real Madrid over the summer because of David De Gea, this has given United hopes of reaching an agreement for the £40million rated French striker.

According to Guardian, Louis Van Gaal is desperate to bring in a prolific goal-scorer at Old Trafford and Benzema has been identified as the striker who could be persuaded to move in the summer transfer window.

Benzema has also been linked with Arsenal in recent weeks, but United are confident of signing the Frenchman ahead of their North London rivals for a fee of £40million.

Manchester United have already sent Radamel Falcao back to Monaco after cancelling his loan deal and are on the verge of selling Robin Van Persie as well. This will leave the club with only 1 recognized striker Wayne Rooney.

This news has emerged after the reports of Real Madrid attempting a mega bid for Manchester City’s Sergio Aguero. Los Blancos are looking to launch a £63million bid for Aguero, which will clear the way for United to place their bid for Karim Benzema.

Real Madrid, over the years have looked to operate with 1 recognized striker at the club with Cristiano Ronaldo doing the bulk of goal-scoring at Bernabeu. If Aguero joins Real Madrid, Benzema is expected to join Manchester United for a fee close to £40million.
