FC Schalke came over their Champions League frustration on Saturday by winning at home on matchday 13. It was a good week for FC Augsburg and Werder Bermen also who maintained their impressive form by winning their respective fixtures. Let us have a look on major highlights from matchday 13.

Borussia Dortmund lost 2-0 to Eintracht Frankfurt, with this defeat Dortmund are on the 18th position of the league table. Klopp’s men who have finished inside top two from 2009/10 are right now in rock bottom of table. Dortmund form this season has been in questions with many players struck with injuries and will have to gain back consistent form to rise up the table. Meanwhile defending champions Bayern Munich maintained their tenth clean sheet of the campaign and defeated Hertha Berlin at home by 0-1. Bayern on Saturday equalled VfB Stuttgart’s 2003 record for the fewest goals conceded after 13 matches. Bayer 04 Leverkusen jumped into the third position of the league table by winning against 1. FC Koln 5-1. Roger Schmidt’s side who are third position holders will face Bayern next week. Vfl Wolfsburg also registered a win against Borussia Monchengladbach by 1-0, Wolves are just seven points behind Bayern on the 2nd position and with a consistent result further can give tough competition to defending champions. FC Augsburg also won their fixture against Hamburger SV by 3-1 remarkably and is now on fourth position which is the highest position they had in the league. Augsburg skipper Paul Verhaegh scored his seventh penalty unmissed and helped his side to wine comfortably.

FC Schalke 04 on Saturday came over their Champions League frustration by defeating 1. FSV Mainz 05 4-1.  Dutch player Huntelaar scored a wonderful hat-trick and Barnetta also found the back of the net. Schalke bounced back with confidence from a humiliating 5-0 defeat to Chelsea in Champion League. By defeating SC Paderborn 07 4-0 SV Werder Bremen won their second home game consecutively. Zaltko Junuzovic opened up the score line by a superb free kick followed by goals from Davie Selke, Fin Bartels and Levent Aycicek.
