Atletico Madrid striker Diego Costa has reportedly travelled to Serbia to visit a “medical miracle worker” specialising in horse placenta treatments as he battles to be fit for the Champions League final against Real Madrid. Atletico believe that a visit to the ‘miracle doctor’ whose controversial methods had earlier helped players like Frank Lampard, Glen Johnson, Vincent Kompany, Pablo Zabaleta and Robin van Persie and Yossi Benayoun could also help Costa.

Players who have suffered a grade-one hamstring tear are usually have to sit out for a fortnight, but Costa has travelled to the Serbian capital earlier this week to meet with ‘miracle doctor’ Marijana Kovacevic in the hope he can be healed in time for the biggest game of his career, according to Spanish paper AS.

Atletico have had a superb campaign winning the La Liga in the final day of the season and have a chance to secure a double if they beat cross city rivals Real Madrid in Lisbon in the weekend.

More to follow later in our build up for the final……..
