Former Bayern Munich and Inter Milan winger and Swiss international Xherdan Shaqiri finally completes a much awaited move to Premier League as he join midt table side Stoke City on a five-year deal. The Potters had to pay a club record transfer fee of £12m to Inter to lure the winger’s services. 

Xherdan is former UEFA Champions League winner with Bayern Munich who had left the club in 2014 to join Inter Milan. After an unsuccessful campaign with the Italian Shaqiri finally moves away from the club to join Stoke City.

Shaqiri has been handed over the number 22 jersey at the club.

After joining the Potters today, Shaqiri sounded extremely happy excited. Speaking to the club website he said: “I am very happy, and incredibly excited that this transfer to Stoke City has finally happened. 

“Over the past three days I have met great people at the club and witnessed the wonderful atmosphere at the Britannia Stadium on Sunday. That experience was overwhelming.

“My special thanks go to the manager, Mark Hughes, Chief Executive Tony Scholes and Mark Cartwright for their work in helping to make this deal happen over the past few months.

“I sincerely appreciate it so much, and will give my utmost to pay them and the supporters back on the pitch over the coming months and years.

 “I can’t wait to meet my new teammates and make my debut for the Club. It feels great to finally be a Potter!”
