Charles Aranguiz who came to light after Chile’s Copa America victory is one of the hottest properties in this transfer window. The 26 year old central midfielder has attracted interest from top European clubs like Chelsea, Arsenal and Marseille.
Metro claims that Chelsea have agreed a deal with Internacional for the Chilean. The Blues are believed to have met the £16.1 million valuation from the Brazilian club for the Copa America hero.
Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is a long term admirer of the playmaker and could be on the verge of making a formal offer. Ligue 1 outfit Marseille also made an approach for the player according to the player’s agent but the player prefers Premier League and waiting for an offer from Premier League giants.
“Aranguiz prefers the Premier League,” said Cesar Behling, one of the player’s representatives. “But Marseille and Ligue 1 also have a great reputation and can’t be ruled out.”
Marseille coach Marcelo Bielsa was Aranguiz’s manager at international level during his spell as Chile boss, but whether he can be reunited with ‘Prince Charles’ is likely to hinge on whether Arsenal are keen to add to their already bloated midfield corps.
Liverpool are also interested in the Chilean playmaker but it seems the Chilean is going to opt for the Premier League Champions Chelsea according to reports. Aranguiz was in sublime form with Chile at Copa America and scored twice against Bolivia in Chile’s 5-0 win and also scored from spot kick in the final against Argentina.
The 26 year old has 36 caps for Chile and scored 6 goals. It remains to be seen which club can capture the in form Chilean International.
