Chelsea Great Offers His Services To Brazilian Club Chapecoense

Over the past week there has been a number of stories claiming that certain players would be willing to sign for Brazilian club Chapecoense to help them get back on their feet following the tragic plane crash that robbed them of most of their first team.

Rumours claiming the likes of Ronaldinho and Juan Roman Riquelme have done the rounds, though developments since have ruled the Argentine out of the running.

But it would seem that there is one player who is willing to join the club, and has even spoke directly and publicly about it, is former Chelsea striker Eidur Gudjohnsen.

The veteran front man took to his personal Twitter account on Sunday night to offer his services to the club.

And in doing so, he even name dropped Ronaldinho, highlighting the opportunity to play alongside him again would be too good to turn down.

At the age of 38, there’s no doubt that Gudjohnsen is in the twilight of his career, but looking back over what he’s achieved in the game he would add some significant experience to the side while they get back on track.

He played for his country at Euro 2016 over the summer, but his club career has tailed off slightly over the last two years.

Having made a surprise return to Bolton Wanderers in 2014, he has since turned out for Chinese side Shijiazhuang Ever Bright, Norwegians Molde and Indian club Pune City.

His goal return has dried up, too, as he has scored just eight goals since his stint with Bolton.

But he is best remembered for his time with Chelsea and Barcelona.

During his time with the Blues he became somewhat of a cult hero, helping the side to two Premier League titles as well as an FA Cup and League Cup.

He was even more successful at Barca, where he helped the club to lift the Champions League in 2009.

While there is still doubts over whether Ronaldinho is going to sign for the club, could Gudjohnsen’s Tweet allude to something fans don’t know about?

It’s not known how close the pair were at the Nou Camp, but there is a chance that they have been in touch to discuss the move.

Or, and it could be likely, he has read the rumours and made his own conclusions.

Only time will tell…
