After a stunning performance that led them to a historical title, the apple has fallen far from the tree for the Blues. Their journey from the top of the table to near relegation has been a modern marvel, the same team, the same manager but totally different results!
After the blow that this season has been, things don’t look bright for the Blues as they are languishing at the bottom of the table and are living in the fear of losing their star players namely Courtois, Hazard, Oscar and Costa. With the team in dire straits and all Champions League hope potentially gone down the drain, Chelsea will find it difficult to keep these stars on their payroll who will surely go to greener pastures and to teams where they can earn more glories.
Though the players have long-term contracts with the club but club sources have revealed that it if any of the rivals come with lucrative deals it would be difficult to keep the players.
“Yes, they’re tied into deals but those contracts won’t stop rivals moving in at the end of the season. And they won’t stop our players considering their futures either. Contracts don’t count for a lot these days” further added the source.
The list of potential suitors includes Real Madrid, Atletico Madrid, PSG and Juventus. Though Real Madrid and their city rivals face transfer bans till the summer of 2017, it hasn’t stopped the Spanish giants from lining up for the Chelsea stars. While Atletico want to bring back Costa, the Los Blancos are in the race for Hazard and Courtois with PSG. And as for the Brazilian midfielder, he has a certain Italian club running after him.
The future does not look stable for the Blues with Guus Hiddink also being an interim solution. Now with the blow of heavy potential departures in the future, it all seems pretty bleak. Only time will tell what happens to Abramovich’s team. Do they sink deeper into quicksand or they rise from the ashes!
