Chelsea are reportedly looking to ramp up their efforts in bringing in a striker to supplement the back in form Diego Costa as they look to reclaim position in the table over the remaining season. Falcao and Remy have been dealing with injuries and Falcao has been told that he no longer has a future at the club despite Jose Mourinho’s personal involvement in signing the striker.
The player who will replace El Tigre over at the Stamford Bridge is one who might face them tonight in the Baggies’ squad, Saido Berahino. The striker has admitted that he wants to leave the midlands club as soon as he can and was infuriated with the club’s rejection of a 23 million pound bid from Tottenham Hotspurs as they had approached Tony Pulis’ side over the summer for his services.
The player had crossed the 20 goal mark for the Baggies last season and already has 6 goals this season, tied for top scorer with Salomon Rondon. He has achieved that output with dramatically lesser minutes than Rondon and looks to be a real star in the making for both the Baggies as well as England National Team.
The player had scored a wonder goal against Chelsea the last season as Chelsea had wrapped up the title and the Chelsea hierarchy are reportedly impressed enough with the youngster to push for a deal. The price floating around is near the 30 million mark and would be a fair deal for a home-grown player with impressive output at such a tender age.
Until the deal finalizes, Chelsea will be relying on Costa for the goals as the striker would be the hungry for more goals to keep up with his fine form of four goals in three matches for the club.
