John Terry was aiming to reduce the swelling on his ankle on Sunday night, following Chelsea’s draw with Swansea.
The Blues travelled to South Wales seeking a victory to keep pace with Manchester City at the summit of the Premier League table.
However, Chelsea failed to win for the first time under Antonio Conte’s stewardship, despite a double from Diego Costa.
The Brazil-born Spain international took his season goal tally to four, but his brace at the Liberty Stadium sandwiched goals from Gylfi Sigurdsson and Leroy Fer.
During the game’s frantic finale, Terry sustained an injury which saw him fall to the ground in pain on two occasions, before he eventually left Swansea’s ground on crutches.

Once the Blues had returned to London, Terry delivered an update to his Instagram followers, as he followed a photo of his ankle bandaged up with a video of Chelsea’s medical staff tending to the injury.

Indeed, the centre-back wrote: “Some late night work trying to get the swelling down.”
The 35-year-old has been a mainstay of Conte’s side thus far, completing all four of Chelsea’s Premier League fixtures this term.
His run in the team follows a contract wrangle towards the end of the last term, which eventually saw the captain pen a new £50,000-per-week deal (via the Daily Mail) to remain at Stamford Bridge.
