Antonio Conte is off to the perfect start to his stint in England with three wins from three games in two different competitions.
His team managed to steal two 2-1 victories with late winners in the game and were once again under pressure in the League Cup game against the Bristol Rovers on Tuesday.
They managed to outscore their lower league opponents on the night but the amount of work that needs to be done on their defence was glaringly obvious in the cup game.
They let Bristol score twice on the night and needed a winner from Moses to get through to the next round and Conte will need to make sure that he has a stronger defence than he has at the moment.
This has seen the manager look for a number of defensive reinforcements and one such player is Torino’s Nikola Maksimovic.
It was revealed that the 24-year old has refused to train with his parent club amid interests from Chelsea and Italian outfit Napoli and it is understood that he is available for a move this summer.
He is valued at around the £21.5m mark and though Torino are adamant that he is not for sale, Chelsea have already told that they are ready to pay a lot more than his valuation to get him to the Bridge this summer.
However, it is now understood that Napoli are out of the race to sign the 24-year old who believe that they will not be able to meet his valuation if Chelsea are ready to increase their bid.
This now leaves Maksimovic with just two options. He can either make amends with his club and continue playing in Italy for the next season or make a move to Chelsea where he will have a chance to prove himself and claim a place in the starting XI.
It will not be an easy decision to make especially with Chelsea absent from Europe which will reduce Maksimovic’s game time so it will be interesting to see if he makes the move before the deadline day.
Do you think Maksimovic will move to Chelsea this summer?
