Jose Mourinho is known to come up with surprising transfers and one such transfer is on the cards yet again as Chelsea look to sign the former Arsenal and Real Madrid striker Emmanuel Adebayor.
The Togo International forward has fallen out at his current club Tottenham Hotspur under Mauricio Pochettino and is certain to move away from the club next season. Taking this as an opportunity, Mourinho wants to sign Adebayor as the replacement for retiring Didier Drogba.
Mourinho and Adebayor have worked previously when the striker was loaned at Real Madrid by striker’s then club Manchetser City. Adebayor seemed to have run out of all viable options available to him to revive his career but with Chelsea ready to take care of his massive £100,000-a-week wages the striker could yet get another chance at Premier League football.
Didier Drogba has announced his decision to quit Chelsea at the end of this season. Loic Remy is poised to leave the Stamford Bridge next season as well due to the lack of playing time which leaves Mourinho with only Diego Costa as his recognised striker.
Costa’s injury woes are not a hidden fact to anyone and Mourinho wants a prolific backup to Costa who can score goals when needed and the Special One sees Adebayor as that striker as Chelsea look to complete a surprise move for the former Arsenal striker.
