Chelsea Player Ratings In 2-0 Victory Over Hull City

Antonio Conte Chelsea’s might look at this round of the Premier League fixtures as the round that has bought them closer to the title as they managed to take all three points from their home game against Hull City this weekend. This victory opens up a 9 point gap at the top of the Premier League table leaving Tottenham Hotspur, Liverpool and Arsenal with plenty of work to do ahead of the rest of the season. Hull City managed to keep Chelsea under pressure for most of the game but Diego Costa came up with the first goal of the game right on the stroke of half time to give his side a lead going into the break. Just as Hull City tried to pile the pressure late in the game, defender Gary Cahill came up with a smart finish to keep the game away from the Tigers. The hosts were not at their sparkling best on the night but here are the player ratings for the players for this game:

Thibaut Courtois (6):

Made a couple of decent saves whenever called upon as he managed to keep yet another clean sheet on his way to a victory.

Cesar Azpilicueta (6):

Stuck to his task well at the back but was hardly tested on a comfortable night for the Spanish defender who is growing on to become one of the best for Chelsea.

David Luiz (6):

The Brazilian also had a comfortable night as Hull failed to create any chance on note. He was tested a couple of times but came out victorious to keep his side in the game.

Gary Cahill (7):

Was superb at the back all night dealing with the threat of the Hull City attack and also popped up with a  goal at the other end to take the game away from the visitors on the night.

Victor Moses (5):

Was his usual self on the night trying to add a body to the attack but was just not able to create chances like was earlier in the season. Picked up an assist but that was just about it.

N Golo Kante (6):

Another strong performance from the Frenchman who never gave Hull a moments of peace as he controlled the midfield and helped his side to a victory.

Nemanja Matic (5):

The Serbian was at fault for giving the ball away a couple of times but he was ever present at the back when needed to snuff out the danger.

Marcos Alonso (6):

Calm and composed on the flank for Chelsea, the no nonsense approach from Alonso helped the Blues constantly in this game.

Pedro (6):

Could not use his pace or trickery as Hull sat deep in their half but was effective none the less in a comfortable victory.

Eden Hazard (5):

Continuing his recent trend of putting in mediocre performances, Hazard, was yet again ineffective for Chelsea in this victory over Hull.

Diego Costa (8):

The man of the match for Chelsea in this game, Costa, was super all night as he troubled the Hull defense constantly, got on their nerves and finally broke them down. Surely a day to remember for the Spaniard.

SUBS:

Willian (5):

Came in with 20 minutes to go and added another dimension to the Chelsea attack late in the game.

Cesc Fabregas (6):

Made a huge difference in the midfield for Chelsea in the final 20 minutes of the game as he helped his side see out a victory.

Michy Batshuayi (5):

Came in with just 10 minute to play and failed to have an impact on the game.
