In an attempt to win over his boss Antonio Conte, Chelsea midfielder Cesc Fabregas has posted a video on his Instagram account of training alone, practicing his movement and touch by weaving between cones and knocking the ball back to his trainer.
The Spain international’s situation at the Stamford Bridge has kept everyone puzzled. While there is absolutely no doubt that he does not feature too much in Conte’s plan right now, the Italian tactician’s reluctance to sell him has made everyone confused. Last month, there were reports that the manager was willing to keep the midfielder at the club and wanted to sell Eden Hazard instead to bring Leonardo Bonucci at Stamford Bridge. However, Fabregas’ lack of playing time suggests otherwise. He has only started once in the league this term. The former Juventus manager has preferred N’Golo Kante and Nemanja Matic in the midfield and their good performances so far in this season means he will persist with them for the time being.

The former Arsenal and Barcelona star were left out of the team as the Blues lost 1-2 to West Ham in the EFL Cup in mid-week, with manager Antonio Conte explaining that he was still out with a thigh injury. He also missed league matches against Leicester City and Manchester United with the problem, but now appears to be nearing full fitness again and it will be really interesting to see whether he will be picked in the starting eleven or not.
With Chelsea on a three-match winning streak after some poor results, it is highly unlikely that the Spaniard will get straight into the starting eleven for the game against Southampton on Sunday.
