Chelsea star midfielder Willian has revealed his admiration for Everton central defender John Stones who was a major transfer target for Chelsea this summer.
Goal claims that speaking to the website Willian said that he likes the game of John Stones who was really impressive last season for Everton in the Premier League.
Chelsea had eyed a move for the defender and it was reported that Stones had handed over a transfer request to Everton to force a move out of Merseyside. But the club did reject the youngster’s plea and refused to sell him for a hefty transfer fee of 40 million Euros.
Willian was quoted: “He is a good defender. I heard some news – of course, there is nothing concrete, but I’ve heard about it.
“It is obvious that he is a good defender, but we do not know yet whether he will come or not. But we also have good defenders here in our team.
“Last season, our defenders did an excellent season, but he is a reliable defender, so, if he comes, he will surely come to help us and to strengthen us even more.”
It has been a very poor start for Chelsea this season as they have managed to gather just 4 points from the first four games.
Speaking about the start Willian said: “Oh, it’s just the beginning. The beginning is always difficult, although we have not started the way we wanted.
“The Premier League is always difficult. I think that lots of things are about to happen. We are still at the beginning of the championship, we have many games ahead and I hope that we can achieve a sequence of victories.”
Chelsea has so far bought Baba Rahman from Augsburg, Pedro Rodriguez from Barcelona and Radamel Falcao on loan from AS Monaco. The Blues are linked with a move for Paul Pogba, but the deal looks unlikely as the transfer window will be closing in a few hours.
