Chelsea’s Antonio Conte has done some brilliant pieces of business in the transfer window in his first year in the Premier League.
He has purchased players who not only settle into his style well but also players who will suit the conditions in the Premier League. He has already strengthened the squad from the last season but is still looking for additions to compete with the best in the league next season.
And it now looks like Conte is close to yet another big name signing in Romelu Lukaku.
The Belgian international moved to Everton from the Stamford Bridge a couple of seasons ago £28m but has ever since been in great form and has increased his market value two fold.
However, the 23-year old has revealed earlier in the summer that he wants to play at a club with regular Champions League football and Chelsea may be the answer(even though they are absent from Europe for the next season).
Chelsea have been monitoring his status since the start of the transfer window with manager Antonio Conte desperate for another striker. It is now revealed that star striker Diego Costa may be on his way to Atletico Madrid making the Chelsea manager even more desperate for an attacker and it is understood that he has targeted Lukaku as the perfect fit for the Blues.
The manager, however, was rejected in a £57million bid for the striker recently as the Toffees were not happy to part with their star at that price.
But it is now revealed that the continuous interest from Chelsea has seen the Goodison Park outfit accept that they will have to lose their star this summer.
It is understood that the manager and the club are now ready to let Lukaku move this summer but are not willing to accept any offer that is less than their valuation.
Having scored 25-goals for Everton in all competitions last season, Lukaku is one of the most inform forwards in Europe and is valued at a staggering £75million, just less than thrice the value at which he moved to the Goodison Park.
Though financially this is a stupid move for Chelsea, the amount of quality the Belgian will get to the squad next season is easily worth his price, especially with all the money that is flowing in the Premier League this summer.
It will not be easy for Chelsea to meet the asking price for Lukaku but if they want their man, they will have to splash the cash this summer.
