It seems that Premier League outfit West Ham will now have to fight off competition to keep Dimitri Payet with them at Upton Park, after it was recently speculated that an unnamed Chinese club were keen to sign the 28 year old attacking midfielder as well. The report further added that an offer of around £38m had already been made for the Frenchman, though it is not certain which club the attacker would eventually pick out of the two and further information was not provided.
The France international has made a total of 16 appearances for the Hammers and has scored six times, which might have caught the attention of various other clubs. He has played for a few renowned clubs in Ligue 1, prior to his move to England. The play-maker moved to the east London club in the summer transfer window from French side Marseille and has really been senstational since his arrival.
Sky Sports have further added that he could possibly be the next superstar to make the switch to the Chinese Super League, if indeed he does accept the offer that has been made to him. Already the likes of Ramires, Jackson Martinez and Gervinho have all left European football for China in recent times and it could now also be the fate of Payet, though there are still no details about which club wants him exactly.
Slaven Bilic’s side recently knocked out Merseyside outfit Liverpool out of the FA Cup in extra time with a 2-1 win and are looking in good form, with just one defeat in their last five games in all competitions. As they still look to win a title in the current campaign, it remains to be seen whether they will offer the Frenchman more money or look to cash in on him instead, based on what would benefit them on a long term basis.
