Jurgen Klopp in his first transfer window as the Liverpool manager has been more active than ever and the recent stories have linked Liverpool to Athletic Bilbao’s Inaki Williams.
Inaki Williams has not yet signed a contract with the Spanish side where his present contract ends in 2017. The biggest question for the Spanish side, however, would be the buyout clause to include in the contract and not the length of the contract.
The 21-year-old has a 20 million buyout clause at the moment, a price tag that will see many of the English Premier League clubs pounce on. Liverpool are one of the front-runners to sign the youngster after it is understood that they are in the market for a striker this January.
Liverpool are missing the likes of Daniel Sturridge, Divock Origi and Danny Ings from the team due to injury and it is understood that Klopp demands the signature of a forward in this transfer window and that he has been stalking Inaki Williams recently.
However the most reliable newspaper in Bilbao, the Basque publication El Correo stated that the Spanish side is trying hard to get Williams to sign a new contract but also reported that the Citizens are closing in on the youngster.
El Correo reported that Manchester City have sent a delegation to compile detailed information about any move that might happen this January.
With the buyout clause set to rise significantly if the youngster pens a contract, City have reportedly sent Rob Newman and Gary Worthington, who the El Correro say is the Premier League club’s head of scouting for last week’s game against Villareal.
