Arsenal have been looking to sign an influential midfield player and one player who fits the requirement and budget is Frenchman Yohan Cabaye. Valued around £12million, Cabaye’s dream move to the Ligue 1 side PSG did not work out as expected and now he is seeking a route away from the club.
Despite Arsenal linked with Cabaye, he is close to completing a transfer to Crystal Palace as confirmed by talksport.
The news has also been confirmed by Crystal Palace’s co-owner Steve Parish who hinted that the club are working very hard to bring the Frenchman back to Premier League.
Another reason why Cabaye to Crystal Palace looks an ideal transfer is the player’s relation with club’s current manager Alan Pardrew. Cabaye played best football of his life under Pardrew at Newcastle before jetting off to Paris.
Cabaye has already hinted a desire to leave Parc des Princes this summer and with PSG back to their spending prowess, Cabaye will be further pushed in the pecking order with club aiming to sign players like Paul Pogba.
Crystal Palace have become a steadier club under Pardrew and the next step for the London based club is to break in to Premier League’s top 10 teams and stay there for long. That can be achieved by making shrewd signings like Cabaye.
According to Parish, club are looking to achieve an even better season under Pardrew and signing Cabaye is on top of his agendas ahead of the next season.
If Cabaye joins Crystal Palace, Arsenal will then be left to choose between Morgan Schneiderlin and William Carvalho as the realistic midfield targets after saying NO to a chance of signing Arturo Vidal.
