Spanish giants Real Madrid have managed to push the gap between them and their arch rivals Barcelona to five points after a comfortable victory over Leganes earlier this week.
The likes of Gareth Bale, Karim Benzema, and Toni Kroos were all absent from the starting XI for this game but one notable name that was not in the squad on the night is Portuguese star Cristiano Ronaldo.
The Los Blancos managed to take all three points from this game, thanks to a hat-trick from Alvaro Morata and a goal from James Rodriguez, in a victory that takes them closer to the La Liga title but the EURO 16 winner with the Portugal national team was not amused.
Reports from Spanish news outfit Don Balon claimed right after the game that the star winger was not happy with his manager’s decision for the game at the mid-week.
The 32-year old was not at his best against Alaves and Zidane decided to give him a rest for the game against Leganes on Wednesday to keep him fit for the Madrid derby at the weekend but that did not go down well with CR7, who is now reportedly angry with the manager’s decision to drop him out of the squad.
It is understood that the reason behind the anger is the opponents on the night.
Ronaldo has been exceptional in front of goal in his time in Spain but Leganes are the only club in the top flight of Spanish football he has not got a goal against.
So Ronaldo was desperate to play the side and score against them to improve on his already impressive record but Zidane’s decision to drop him has robbed him of this opportunity, which has reportedly made him mad.
But that is not the only claim from the Spanish newspaper.
In another report from later in the day, Don Balon claimed that Ronaldo is also unhappy with his team-mates at the Bernabeu at the moment.
According to this report, Ronaldo feels that his rivals Barcelona have a far better understanding as a team and that he wants players around him to play to his strengths.
Luis Enrique and most managers before him have set up the Barcelona side to play around the Argentine great Lionel Messi and even his team mates in Luis Suarez and Neymar Jr are ready to play to his strengths.
But Ronaldo reportedly feels that his colleagues at the Bernabeu are not ready to dot the same for him.
To be honest, the likes of Gareth Bale and Karim Benzema have a bigger role in the squad at the Los Blancos and have actually competed with the Portuguese star to become the number 1 for Real Madrid and this has also angered Ronaldo recently.
However, CR7 is expected to start the derby at the weekend over Atletico Madrid and is expected to put all this behind him.
