Portuguese superstar and Real Madrid icon Cristiano Ronaldo will not be too happy with the latest news coming out of the Real Madrid camp, with reports emerging that the club management is looking to sell close pal and left-back Fabio Coentrao in the summer.
According to Spanish outlet Don Balon, the bosses at the club feel that the Portuguese does not fit into their requirements and hence are willing to sell him in the summer.
Los Blancos manager Zinedine Zidane is not a big fan of the 29-year-old as he does not see the left-back as even a squad option, with the club asking his agent Jorge Mendes to find suitors for him.
However, if reports are to be believed than Ronaldo will not be too happy with the news that his best friend at the club is to be sold, which is similar to the situation of his rival Lionel Messi at Barcelona.
The Argentinian’s close friendship with backup goalkeeper Jose Manuel Pinto was the sole reason that the club renewed his contract but it is unlikely that such a thing will happen at Madrid under Zidane’s watch.
The 29-year-old who joined Real Madrid from Benfica on a €30m deal in 2011 was a regular member of the team for the first three years following which his poor form saw him being sidelined.
Coentrao has struggled for game time this season under the Frenchman, making just four appearances in all competitions this season.
